Set within a magnificent Victorian mansion block, this three-bedroom apartment features two elegant, interconnecting southwest-facing reception rooms, a spacious kitchen diner, main bathroom, and shower room. Over time, the property’s original charm had been lost through a series of poor modifications. Our brief was to sensitively restore its character while introducing contemporary comforts, crafting a haven of calm and sophistication through a complete refurbishment of every area to the highest standard.
Tasked with introducing visual depth through colour, texture, pattern, and proportion, we placed great emphasis on craftsmanship, finish, and timeless design integrity. The goal was to create a warm and characterful pied-à-terre for a family of four—an urban retreat that felt both refined and welcoming.
To meet this vision, we restored original ceiling heights and reinstated intricate cornice details; rationalised tight, awkward spaces to achieve elegance and ease; and implemented a full electrical rewire with new lighting and heating schemes designed to complement the architecture and lifestyle of our clients.
Design Highlights
We stripped the apartment back to its Victorian bones, reinstating ceiling heights and period features that once defined its grandeur. Belgian linen walling was fitted through the reception rooms and passages, chosen for its soft visual texture, refined appearance, and sound-dampening qualities that create a serene atmosphere. A reclaimed Versailles parquet floor with acoustic underlay further enhanced the sense of quiet luxury while minimising noise transfer to the flat below.
Bespoke cabinetry and tailor-made furniture were designed in collaboration with British makers, including a dining table and sideboards that now serve as modern heirlooms. Throughout, art plays a key role—most notably works by Tess Chodan and Cat Croxford from our Artists Appreciation Initiative. The American artist, Ben Fenske is also beautifully displayed here.
The result is a home reborn—rich in character, balanced in proportion, and layered with comfort and meaning. This refined London pied-à-terre captures the essence of Victorian elegance reimagined for contemporary living.

"We engaged Lindi and her team to fully refurbish our 3 bedroom flat in a Victorian mansion block in Chelsea. She was involved right from the beginning of the process and dealt with everything from electrics, re-plastering, lighting design, bespoke furniture and cabinetry making, kitchen and bathroom design and fitting and much more. Lindi was brilliant to work with, able to help us see the big picture at the same time as paying attention to every last detail to ensure that the final outcome was every bit as fantastic as we had hoped. Lindi listened very carefully to what we wanted to achieve, took on our ideas and thoughts, improved on them and often came up with creative solutions to any problems we encountered along the way. The potentially overwhelming task of choosing colour schemes, fabrics and designs was made both manageable and a huge amount of fun when supported by a combination of Lindi’s wealth of professional experience and her creative eye..”Siân and Mark Clarke CHELSEA AND WESTMINSTER, SW LONDON
