Victorian Family Home Renovation

Set in the heart of East Molesey, this exquisite Victorian home presented an ambitious and rewarding challenge for our studio. Over the course of twelve months, we delivered a full design programme followed by a complete renovation and transformation — reimagining the property from top to bottom while preserving its historic character.

Working with such a characterful period home revealed both opportunities and intricate structural challenges. Reinforcing existing walls and addressing ageing Victorian features became key to ensuring both beauty and longevity. Central to the transformation is a striking, custom-engineered staircase — a true architectural statement that redefines the home’s core. This elegantly floating structure draws the eye through all three floors, enhancing flow, light, and connectivity throughout. Despite its cutting-edge steel core and modern engineering, its bespoke cladding and traditional detailing ensure it remains perfectly at home within the property’s Victorian soul.

Design Highlights

To harmonise the home’s rich heritage with the demands of contemporary living, we discreetly integrated a suite of smart technologies, including upgraded security, climate control, lighting, and connectivity systems. Bespoke cabinetry was designed and handcrafted by our skilled makers, enhancing functionality while delivering a refined and highly personalised finish that supports every aspect of our clients’ lifestyle.

On the decorative front, we curated an interior of exceptional craftsmanship and depth. New window dressings were seamlessly complemented by the restoration of treasured vintage curtains, preserving their sentimental value. Working alongside antique specialists, we revitalised existing furnishings and commissioned new, bespoke pieces, plaster mouldings, stained glass, and art installations — each layer contributing to the home’s holistic aesthetic. Every surface and detail was carefully considered, ensuring cohesion, quality, and timeless appeal throughout.

This home is a celebration of vision, craftsmanship, and collaboration — a perfect example of how modern living can be gracefully woven into historic architecture.

TESTIMONIAL

'We couldn’t be happier with the work that Lindi Reynolds & Co have done on our Victorian family home. The refurbishment was extensive, and we are absolutely delighted with the end result. The level of attention to detail throughout the project was exceptional. From the stunning new staircase which has transformed the hallway and makes an impressive impact as soon as you enter the house down to the smallest finishes, everything has been considered and executed to an incredibly high standard. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and the final finish is refined and welcoming, respecting the character of the Victorian property while elevating it into something truly special. What made the process so enjoyable was the relationship with Lindi and her collaborative approach. She listened carefully to how we live, work, and use our home, and translated that into thoughtful, practical, and often inspired design solutions. She brought expertise and vision, while fully respecting our suggestions and way of working to create a home that incorporated all our ideas. We now have a beautiful home which makes us feel genuinely happy, where we can relax and enjoy time with friends and family. We often work from home and have found a noticeable improvement in productivity, creativity and peace of mind. The balance between comfort and inspiration is spot on—spaces flow effortlessly between family life and work, making the house a joy to live in every day.'
