Art at Home with Tess Chodan in Twickenham

Her stunning new collection is launching this spring — and we couldn't be more excited.

Tess, a wonderful member of our Artists Appreciation Initiative, will be presenting Slow Movement at Art At Home — a beautiful gallery nestled within art curator Kath Wood MBE’s Georgian home in Twickenham — and we are so proud of her.

About the Exhibition

Slow Movement is an immersive collection of jewelled artworks in which nature, memory and craftsmanship come together in the most extraordinary way. Tess is renowned for her distinctive and deeply considered practice, combining antique entomology, taxidermy elements and archival materials with contemporary image-making. The result is a series of intricate, one-of-a-kind pieces that transform preserved butterflies, beetles and birds into poetic compositions exploring themes of fragility, time and ecological awareness. Each work comes accompanied by a certificate of provenance.

In this new collection, iridescent insects and delicate natural forms appear to gently inhabit the gallery space, drawing visitors into a quieter, more contemplative rhythm. As Tess herself describes it:

“This collection is about slowing down, noticing detail, or reconnecting with nature. Slow Movement is about creating moments of stillness and wonder.”

Highlights to Look Out For

Among the works on display are some truly special pieces, including:

The Venner Time Switch — an antique industrial object beautifully adorned with gilded honeybees
Good Queen Bess — a large-scale portrait from Tess’s celebrated Masquerade series
Saint Maria — a 17th century carved wooden saint’s hand featuring antique British butterflies, which was recently shown at Bath’s Royal Scientific and Literary Institute

Art for beautiful Homes

Our Artists Appreciation Initiative was born from a very real need — a conviction that truly exceptional art deserves to be lived with, not simply viewed. As an interior design studio in London, we have always understood that the spaces we create tell a story, and that the right artwork can be utterly transformative. Tess Chodan’s work embodies exactly the kind of quality and originality we seek out for our clients.

Whether we are working on high end interior design commissions or curating pieces for more intimate settings, we believe that art should feel considered, intentional and deeply personal. The jewelled intricacy and singular vision of Slow Movement speaks directly to the aesthetic sensibilities we bring to every project. These are works that would sit beautifully within luxury interiors — adding layers of meaning, texture and conversation to any space.

If you are interested in how original artwork can elevate your home or project, we would love to talk.
